FUJIFILM CLAY Studio

This project for FUJIFILM Design Center CLAY Studio was initiated by a request to create a garden that stimulates the imaginations of its designers. The concept and design process were shared over six months of consulting, leading to a collaborative design developed through discussions about their working styles and philosophies.  The garden encircles the building, symbolizing the passage of time and ecological transitions. It features various stages of vegetation: pioneer vegetation following a volcanic eruption, native vegetation consisting of ferns and gymnosperms, cool-climate vegetation, and the copse of the surrounding Tokyo forest. This dynamic space, a sequence of changing environments and sceneries, supports over 180 species of plants that coexist and grow with the designers day by day.
